Hallowed Saints' Monastery is a mission I'm making to demo the Hammerite Mission Development Kit for players, so they can experience the new custom resources available to authors. The map is based on Ottoj55's The Dead Of Winter, which won the recent Masters of Horror contest. Instead of a traditional story-centered mission, I'm taking this opportunity to do the first of several missions I had originally planned to do in the "Master Thieves' Competition" series. Other possible future missions in this series include Broad Daylight (a city mission based on the Ambushed! OM) and another unnamed mission which takes place in a Keeper compound.
You are challenged by your old pal and fellow thief Gimfeyn to a simple, friendly contest - see which of you can be the first to meet a loot requirement in a challenging location, while playing within agreed-upon rules. He selects an isolated Hammerite abbey, Hallowed Saints' Monastery, as the location of the first challenge. You get to select the rules of play and the loot goal from within the mission at the start, completely independent of the overall mission difficulty setting. As you play, you are notified as Gimfeyn finds loot, which serves as a kind of ticking clock you're up against. Additionally, the loot placement is entirely randomized, so the mission should be highly replayable.
